Breathe & Bloom Design
Holiday Artisan Program: Clay Lab – Mini Figures & Personalised Bag Tag. Monday, 18 January 9:30 – 12:30.
Kick off the school holiday week with a hands-on, high-focus studio session! In this 3-hour drop-off workshop, young makers explore the fundamentals of polymer clay sculpting to create both functional back-to-school accessories and imaginative keepsake figures.
Children will discover how to properly condition, blend, and work with professional oven-bake polymer clay. We begin by rolling custom pattern slabs—experimenting with terrazzo inlays, psychedelic marbling, and geometric blocks—before cutting and stamping personalised name tags complete with durable metal hardware for their school or library bags. During the second half of the morning, students learn 3D sculpting principles, discovering how to build sturdy armatures and sculpt charming miniature creatures, animals, or fantasy monsters.
Skills Learned:
- Conditioning, rolling, and regulating slab thickness.
- Surface decorative techniques: marbling, confetti terrazzo, and precision letter stamping.
- Core 3D sculpting: volume balancing, structural joins, and fine texturing.
- Assembly of jump rings, clasps, and protective glazing.
